We are proud to have partnered with Trans Mountain in their search for a Senior Legal Counsel, Litigation, Employment and Labour. 

Reporting to the Vice President, Legal, the Senior Legal Counsel will be responsible for providing (or facilitating the provision of) legal advice, strategic guidance and services to Trans Mountain operations, corporate functions, and Human Resources. This work would include engaging and managing external legal counsel as necessary. The legal advice and services cover but are not limited to employment law, privacy, policy work, and Environmental Health and Safety legal matters. 

What we’re looking for

  • 10+ years of post-call legal experience focused in litigation, labour & employment matters
  • Strong understanding and experience with:
    • Canada Labour Code
    • Alberta Human Rights Act
    • British Columbia Human Rights Act 
    • Employment law and labour regulations, particularly in Alberta and British Columbia
  • Strong analytical and interpretive skills to recognize and comprehend complex issues, policies and legislative requirements and information 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills across a range of contexts
  • Exceptional negotiation and facilitation skills with a proven capability for effective presentation tools/methods
  • Significant experience at a senior level would be considered an asset
  • Experience working in a midstream or pipeline business would be considered an asset
